Sylph: Digital Sketch (2013)

This is a high-level digital sketch drawn in Adobe Photoshop (@Photoshop), using my @Wacom Cintiq Companion (@CintiqCompanion). WIP.

Update: My good friend Dan Landrum, artist and designer, brought this image to life on Google+, by pairing it with the perfect ee cummings’ poem.

Many thanks, Dan,  for elevating this image with such a rich association:

in time of daffodils (who know

the goal of living is to grow)

forgetting why, remember how

in time of lilacs who proclaim

the aim of waking is to dream,

remember so (forgetting seem)

in time of roses (who amaze

our now and here with paradise)

forgetting if, remember yes

in time of all sweet things beyond

whatever mind may comprehend,

remember seek (forgetting find)

and in a mystery to be

(when time from time shall set us free)

forgetting me, remember me

~ee cummings

Just one year ago, the Cinco Banderas Foundation purchased one of my paintings, Gala One, to add to the Cinco Banderas Permanent Collection. It remains a great honor. The collection is now on display in their annual exhibition, through to October 18, 2013, at Artel Gallery (@artelPensacola).

Origin

"Origin," by Terre Britton

“Origin” ©2012 Acrylic on Canvas, 48″ x 36″

“Origin” is  currently in the “All Things Holy” exhibition at Artel Gallery, Pensacola, FL.

This piece grew out of my digital spiral studies from last October. I’m still working out the best way to photograph my work. Most of them consist of multiple layers of colored glazes, which don’t seem to translate satisfactorily in to a digital format. I think an overcast, outdoor photo shoot might produce better results than studio lighting.

You will find a list of all the work in the show at the bottom of the exhibition post.

One of my nephews is the subject of this painting but, at the art reception, three separate guests thought it was Jodi Foster.

You will find a list of all the work in the show at the bottom of the exhibition post.
